Chelsea left-back Emerson lasted just eight minutes for Italy before going off injured.
The Brazilian-born defender has established himself as Roberto Mancini’s first choice left-back.
But an early hamstring injury in the 2-1 win over Finland has left Chelsea worried.
Emerson, 24, was chasing Norwich striker Teemu Pukki in the early stages of the Euro 2202 qualifier.
But the Finn left him in the dust after he was forced to slump off the pitch inside the opening 10 minutes.
The fresh setback means Marcos Alonso is expected to deputise in the full-back position.
